Big Hair Night

We had big hair night in Relief Society. I wish I would have brought my camera so I could have gotten pictures! What was I thinking?! Anyway, here's a picture of a picture that someone else took of me.

We Are Loved

We got a box in the mail with Emeril on the side with pots and pans. I am thinking, "I didn't order any pots or pans." But inside were some fun surprises from my brother and sister-in-law. It was Christmas in June for my boys.

Here's my favorite. Waterproof UNO. You can put the cards on a plastic D-ring and Asher carries them around on his pants. They will randomly whip them out and start playing. It cracks me up!

Here's our horseshoe game.

My other favorite is the basketball hoops we now have in the boys room. We play all the time.

We played football yesterday until someone almost lost an eye. Our statures don't add up. Really tall girl, midget boy, twin bean poles....

Sling shots are ALWAYS a favorite in our house along with bubbles and a really weird plastic dohickey.

We also got movies and I got a pedicure kit and it's just Chirstmas around here! How fun is our life!

Enough for Today

I think 11 posts are enough for one day. Whew!

Diaper Cake

I always want to give diapers at baby showers because that's what I always wanted but it's not a cute, fun gift. Until.....the diaper cake! My friend taught me how to make them and my life will never be the same again.

New Arrivals

So here are May and June's shoes from Jared.
These ballet flats are Tevas. They are so comfortable. I will never buy a cheap ballet flat again.

These are like tennis shoes only they're cute. These are my new staple, wear everywhere shoe.

These will go down as probably my favorite pair of heels of all time.

Milk Bubbles

Milk bubbles, one of the joys of childhood.

Corbin Has Learned to Ride His Bike!

Manipulator

Gavin "Mom stop working for a minute, I need to talk to you."

Me "Okay."

Gavin "Mom, I need to know. Have we been letting you do the things you want and need to do? Have we been good to you?"

Me "Yes! Gav, you guys have been great!"

Gavin "Well, I really would like to spend some time with my friends. Let me explain what I mean by friends. My friends on the t.v. Like my friend the Avatar. I haven't spent any time with him lately. If we have let you do the things you want to do please let me spend some time with my t.v. friend."

Me "The Bacons and the Townsends don't get to watch any t.v. at all."

Gavin "They don't!?"

Me "No. I let you watch a whole movie yesterday so be grateful. And remember the doctor said it wasn't healthy to watch a lot of t.v."

Then I had to explain how t.v. wasn't healthy. Can you believe that guy!? Spending time with friends! Are you kidding me!?

Capturing the Moment

I had my friend Carolyn Townsend take a picture of me and the kids to put on a shirt for Jared for Father's Day.

Her son Cayden kept wanting to be in the picture. That day he had taken a pink marker and written all over his face. I don't know why but every time I see this picture I just crack up. The marker, his expression, the fact that he's not supposed to be in the picture, it just gets me every time.

I had to have a shot of just him with marker on his face.

Here's the picture we put on the shirt.

Bubble Stuff

I bought this bubble stuff that forms bubbles that you can catch. You blow them out of the wand and then count to ten. The solution solidifies a little bit and you are able to catch them and they stick to your hand.

Campout in Hope, AK

My friend Carolyn and I went camping in Hope, AK. She has a pop-up which I believe is the only way to camp.
We camped by these mountains.

Here are the boys hangin' out at the campsite.

All of our kids in front of the DO NOT ENTER sign.

Here's Carolyn, my friend.

The boys practiced their baseball skills which was basically someone throwing the ball and then all of us looking for it in the woods.

Cayden brought his scooter on the hike. He actually did quite well. Before this experience I would have told you that is was impossible to scooter on a hike. Not so my friends.

I love this picture of all of the kids on the trail.

And here's Catherine. Remind me to tell you about her food allergies sometime. It's a crazy story.

Girls Camp

I was called to be Ward Camp Director. What an experience. That's all I have to say.
Here are the leaders doing their skit. One of the priesthood men was behind a car howling like a dog. The other priesthood holder said, "Lisa, go check on the dog," in an exaggerated Southern drawl. Lisa then says, "No, I am too tired to move. Megan, go check the dog." I say, "No, I am too tired to move..." and so on and so on. Finally someone checks the dog and come to find out that he was laying on a nail but he was too tired to move. Not a first placer but fun. The girls' skits were hilarious. A spoof off of American Idol and America's Next Top Model.

We biked 26 miles in between the mountains and the inlet from the ocean. There was bear skat on the trail so we got off onto the highway and sure enough we saw two grizzly bears in the woods. It was a gorgeous 70 degree day.

We took a boat out to see the Portage Glacier.
This picture makes the glacier look small but it's not.

It's not really ice; it's snow that accumulated over....umm... a lot of time. I was educated on everything you would want to know about a glacier but the day before I biked 26 miles. I was a little sleepy. Okay, okay! I fell asleep during the glacier tour. Oh! And I didn't sleep well the night before because teenage boys showed up in our camp. I didn't realize but there was a little campsite right next to the three we were using. Up pulls a car and four boys get out at midnight! It's still light in Alaska at that time. Oh yeah, I brought my flashlight out of habit. It's light 24 hours a day in June, didn't need that. Anyway, these boys start playing cards and our girls are starting to stir and peek out of their tents. I get my shoes on and walk up to the boys picnic table and sit down. They look at me. I say, "I have a girls camp going on here and I am just going to sit here until they go to sleep." They mumble okay and keep on playing. Finally this conversation ensures.
"So what kind of girls' camp is it"
"A church girls' camp."
"What church?"
"The Church of Jesus Christ of....."
"We knew it! We almost started singing The Spirit of God!"
It turns out one of the boys' dad was a bishop of a ward in Anchorage. They were good kids. They pretty much left us alone. The Young Women's president came over and told them where the priesthood's tent was and let them know that the priesthood would gouge their eyes out if they messed with our girls. Somehow I don't think that is in the priesthood manual but I let it slide.
Here's a close-up.

There were many huge chunks of ice floating around in the water.

Here I am.

I saw this waterfall on the way out to the glacier. I am in love with the waterfalls in the mountains.
