Random Sampler

Asher bought a guitar with his Christmas money. He asked me how to get a song recorded to sell. I said, "Asher you have to learn how to play first." He looked at me quizzically and said, "Mom, I alreay do."

I hired a babysitter to go to the doctor. I came home and noticed that they had written their own rules on the whiteboard.
1. No ! T.V.!
2. Phone Number 907-854-1751
3. Be good do not get in trubul

Best Primary Teacher EVER!!!!

Gavin and Asher love their primary teacher so much that the last week in December they reminded me 100 times to bring the camera to church so that they could get a picture with her. She has been with them for two years and now she is moving on to another class. Evelyn Johnson will always be one of my twins favorite people.

New Aprons

Grammy made all of us aprons for Christmas. The boys love them!

We used them tonight to make sugar cookies. My friend gave me this box with the supplies to make a sugar cookie checker game. It's totally cool!

Here they are decorating away.

Sooooo....we never played checkers. They were devoured too quickly.

Christmas Doesn't Come from a Store

So our boys were very dissappointed on Christmas morning. I knew they would be. All they wanted was every gaming system known to mankind and more LEGOs even though we have over 2000 of them and only 100 of them get played with. They said, "Santa must hate us." and "We must have been bad boys this year."

So last night I read to them part of a talk by Jeffrey R. Holland called "Maybe Christmas Doesn't Come from a Store." It starts out with some of Dr. Suess's The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. As the Grinch waits on the mountain to hear the crying in Whoville because all of the presents and decorations are gone he hears joy instead.

Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
"Maybe Christmas, "he thought, "doesn't come from a store.
Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"

I bore my testimony that material things do not bring true happiness.

It was quiet for a minute and then Corbin said, "Santa didn't bring me anything I wanted."

Maybe next year.

A Very Bacon Christmas

The Bacons invited us to join them for Christmas Eve and share in their traditions which I thought was extremly nice of them.
Here we are acting out the Christmas story from Luke 2.

My guys were the three wisemen. Our Christmas play lasted all of four minutes which I thought was exceptional considering that 9 of the actors were under the age of 10, oh and they were all boys. Gotta put that in!

I am in love with pinatas!!!! And the Bacons do a pinata every Christmas Eve. Steph even gave me the rundown on how to make one. My world expanded and my joy was full.

The Captain Cook hotel chefs build this amazing gingerbread village every year. We went to see it and then went out to eat at the Snow City Cafe. Delicious!!!

Gingerbread House

Asher made a gingerbread house today at school.

What gingerbread house would be complete without two machine guns in the backyard? Manned by teddy bears of course.

And quite naturally next to the sled.

Breakfast In Bed

The boys made me breakfast in bed the other day. PB and J. Isn't that what you have for breakfast?

Hey Look Mom!

Sewing

Jared usually has our house pumping with all kinds of great music. Here is Corbin manning the music while Jared is gone. We heard the Hamster Dance just a FEW times.

Asher is very interested in sewing. He asked me if he could sew a blanket and thus the evening progressed with each brother being added with a project of their own.

Here is Corbin stuffing his pillow.

And drum roll please....the finished pillow!

Here's Asher's blanket. The machine broke before we could finish Gavin's scarf. Fixing it requires that I read the instruction manual. Who's betting that I am going to do that?

Two weeks later, here's Gavin's scarf. I had a friend come over and all she did was rethread the machine and it worked. Nice.

Bath

Gavin gets out of the bathtub and I call him over to do the hair smelling test.

"Your hair doesn't smell like soap. You didn't wash did you?"
"Mom, the point of a bath is to have fun, not to wash."

I never knew.

China

I overheard this conversation from the kids:

"Look! This Christmas ornament is made in China."
"Everything is made in China!"
"Yeah, I've noticed that too."
"It's so not fair. Those Chinese people think they can just make everything."
"They think they are SOOO good at making stuff."
